KOHIMA, Jan 18 – The Chairman and members of the 13th Finance Commission, set up by the Government of India, is scheduled to visit Nagaland from January 19 to 21.
Official sources today revealed that the Commission, accompanied by several senior officials of the Union Government, is expected to visit Kigwema and Medziphema villages besides holding a series of meetings with state government officials, political parties and local body representatives in Kohima.
A Special Handloom Expo 2009 is also being organised by the Industries and Commerce Department, Nagaland for the Finance Commission members and officials at ‘The Heritage’, Kohima.
Sources also revealed that in this connection, a review meeting was held in the State Chief Secretary’s conference hall on Wednesday to review the programme details and arrangements with regard to the visit of the Finance Commission to the State.
Chaired by Chief Secretary, Lalhuma, the meeting thoroughly deliberated the purpose of the visit and the arrangements to host the team.
The meeting also reviewed the security arrangement for the team which have been declared as state guests.
